Despite the Biden economy and the inflation that has come with it, gun sales remain unaffected. July of this year marked 48 straight months of record gun sales, a trend that began four years ago.
The FBI tally of background checks for July 2023 showed 1,987,650 firearms purchases in the United States – down slightly from July 2022 but still higher than 19 out of 24 years since the system was established.
When adjusted for likely sales of firearms, it was 1,023,903.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which is a trade group for the industry reported these figures and also stated that this long stretch of gun sales is unlike anything we have ever seen before.
Mark Oliva, NSSF spokesman commented further on why people are continuing to buy guns:
“This is a remarkable milestone of four continuous years (of over one million background checks) for sale of a firearm…That’s no small achievement and is indicative of the strong and sustained appetite for law-abiding Americans to take ownership of their Second Amendment rights”.
People are motivated by both politics as well as safety concerns when it comes to purchasing firearms; they want to be sure that they will be able to access them if more restrictive laws are implemented in the future.
We The People are not to be messed with.
Come and Take ‘Em!
